Community Standards & Code of Conduct

Dear Polygon DAO Community,

The Polygon DAO seeks to be a stimulus for innovation & creation, aiding in the development of decentralized processes and projects looking to make an impact.

The Polygon DAO wants to be home to all those who believe in an open and decentralized ecosystem. The hard work and passion of its participants should be what helps progress.

The Polygon DAO invites all projects related to DeFi, NFT’s, Tooling, and DAOs to become part of this new avenue! We currently have the following ways of supporting the effort:

  • Financial support through joint grants
  • Supporting growth by sharing the best practices in: yield management, DeFi, governance, innovation and cross composability platforms
  • Support through visibility, joint campaigns, and more effective marketing operations.

The projects that choose to join the DAO will be able to participate in its governance, take part in Business Development and/or DAO2DAO partnership operations, with multiple future initiatives coming to further develop those areas.

We are now proud to announce Season 1 of Polygon DAO starting February 14, 2022, and welcome members to be part of the DAO as grantees, contributors, leaders, guests (referred to members in any capacity)

We believe in building a participatory community defined by shared assumptions.

Our Values:

Compassion. We won’t always agree with each other, however, respecting all views is the key to growing a healthy and vibrant community. A healthy, good-faith discussion and collaboration with compassion is of utmost importance. ICO - “Interaction with Compassion”

Respect. Everyone affiliated with the DAO must at all times maintain respect for each other. We should always focus on MRI - “Most Respectful Interaction”

Integrity. We are all human and we make mistakes, that’s okay. We must collectively operate with the highest levels of integrity, own our mistakes, and work on moving forward together with HLI - “Highest Level of Integrity”

Collaboration. Our openness and willingness to collaborate both within and outside of our respective communities or zones is key. This is how we foster a thriving, growing community. COW - “Collaboration with Openness and Willingness”

Transparency. Ensuring all our work and interactions as representatives and members of the DAO are honest and open. WIT - “Work & Interaction with Transparency”

Code of Conduct

Our Pledge

Our pledge as contributors to the Polygon DAO is to expand Polygon’s ecosystem, help bring the world to Ethereum, and play our role in creating a decentralized Web for all to use.

These goals can be achieved through the support of existing and upcoming projects, collaborative problem-solving, organising events and campaigns, providing educational content, and all forms of media production. All builders and contributors are welcome to aid in this initiative.

We accept contributors who are both technical and non-technical. Everyone’s expertise, ideas and skills are valuable in order to collaboratively achieve our wide-ranging purpose. Decisions within the community should be based purely upon the merit of a proposed idea.

We acknowledge that certain views and opinions may collide with one another in a diverse environment. Having acknowledged this reality, we must do our best to understand all viewpoints to progress forward, reaching the widest consensus possible, regardless of personal biases.

We believe that good-faith discussions are the necessary foundation for a meritocratic community to flourish. By always assuming the most charitable interpretation of each others’ arguments, we make sure that discourse continues despite differences of opinion.

Mistakes are bound to happen. Errare humanum est and that’s okay. We own our mistakes and setbacks the same as we do our successes and wins. Consequently, integrity is the core of our culture.

We operate in the open with honesty and transparency to lift up our contributors, reduce barriers, using clear communications so as to avoid misunderstandings between community members.

Participation within our community must be a harassment-free experience for everyone regardless of age, body size, visible or invisible disability, ethnicity, gender identity and expression, level of experience, education, socio-economic status, nationality, personal appearance, race, religion, or sexual identity and orientation.

We pledge to act and interact in ways that contribute to an open, welcoming, diverse, inclusive, and healthy community.

This Code of Conduct applies within all community spaces and also applies when an individual is officially representing the community in public spaces.
