I am struggling to find detailed information how new validators can join the Polygon network.
Is the auction mechanism still active and why would a Validator drop off?
Any plans to extend the validator set?

Thanks for your message!
At present there is a waitlist for Validators on POS mainnet, and we are not currently taking expressions of interest.
As mentioned in PIP4 we are currently moving to phase 2 of Part C.
Where the community will approve the evaluation params for onboarding.
We are working on a formalised admissions and applications process. Once this is complete and tested, it will be shared publicly.
