Project Description

The DeFi Coach is an educational video course that takes complete beginners and introduces them to the world of DeFi via the Polygon network. Students receive Matic tokens so that they can follow along with all the practical parts of the course. At the end of the course, they will have lent, borrowed, traded, yield farmed, created NFTs, view analytics, diagnosed issues, and more.

The course spends time teaching people how to safely create and store their secret phrase by having the students scan their devices for any malicious software and storing their secret phrase in an encrypted file that they can back up to multiple locations. We also recommend people who are not security literate not to use a computer browser-based metamask setup due to the wider attack surface area.

We have just finished the 6 week beta test with 12 students and have gotten fantastic feedback. Students have reported that they found the content extremely thorough and have the confidence to move large sums of their money into DeFi.

1 - To recruit, hire and train a Digital Marketing Exec to define and rollout a Route To Market strategy that would see a series of ad campaigns across multiple channels that would be accountable for 58% of total projected students onboarded in the first year out of a total 1800 students. 2 - To recruit, hire and train a Sales Manager to develop and mature leads to partake in the course and manage our network of influencers to resell the course and bring awareness of DeFi, Polygon and our course to the masses. Would be accountable for 42% of total projected students onboarded in the first year.

3 - To constantly maintain and update the course to contain the most relevant platforms, protocols, channels, and developments. This will ensure that students are getting the most modern course and that it never goes out of date. This is imperative for quality control, maintaining market-leading status and reputation as the most up-to-date/relevant course for entry into DeFi. For this, we require the ongoing services of an admin video editor on a part-time retainer. [5,000 USD Required up front]

Please note that our course is built and we are now pushing it into the public sphere. The grant will help us accelerate this process and bring in brand new users to the Polygon ecosystem.

Milestones and Budget Updates

Milestones:

1 - Unlocked when we complete the beta test of the course to ensure the learning objectives are met and the offering delivers on what it promises. This will allow the successful analysis of a sample of 20 students and develop marketing testimonials and collateral. Thus allowing us to progress to recruit, hire and train a Digital Marketing Exec to define and rollout our Route To Market strategy that would see a series of ad campaigns across multiple channels. This would be accountable for 10% of total projected students onboarded in the first year out of a total 1800 students. RTM breakdown in alignment with student onboarding available for viewing here. Cost per customer acquisition is 75USD or 6.25%. This will reduce later when we have established brand awareness, word of mouth and reputation.

[10,000 USD for wages (Marketing) + 15,000 USD Ad spend Required up front to launch] - Beta completed at time of writing - Onboard 180 students in 3 months

2 - To recruit, hire and train a Sales Manager to develop and mature leads to partake in the course, manage our network of influencers to resell the course, and bring awareness of DeFi, Polygon. Would be accountable for approx 28% of total projected students onboarded in the first year. Cost per customer acquisition is 50USD or 4.1%.

3 - If the previous milestones are a success, we will re-apply to the DAO for further funding if needed.

Reasons

Concerning this project roll-out plan and milestones, there was insufficient confidence established around milestones that are based primarily on marketing results - considering that marketing outcomes for a nascent project are largely unpredicable, uncontrolled and cannot be majorly controlled by the operational team.
Do feel free to apply again from season 1 upwards, given a revision of your project ask, milestone qualification, MVP and roll-out plan.
