Hi All
Happy to announce that this week we are planning to release the first beta version of Erigon 3. The latest version of Erigon has been in alpha for a few months now and we have now reached a stage where we believe it is performance equivalent to Erigon 2 with significantly faster sync from scratch times and a greatly reduced disk footprint for archive nodes.
As we enter beta we will be making no-more breaking disk changes so that you can expect the node to run without re-syncing for future beta releases as we move towards a 3.0 release candidate.
During the beta we will continue work on improving performance and stability.
The tables below provide our sync times and data usage for archive nodes on Polygon & Ethereum Mainnets:
The diagram below explains how the sync times above are achieved. Unlike Erigon 2 and other Ethereum nodes, Erigon 3 uses compiled chain storage to avoid re-interpreting the chain each time it is transferred between machines.
