Can we expect Polygon to issue an article with legitimate options on where and how to migrate MATIC->POL? When will the POL FAQ be issued?
The native token on the PoS chain has been 1:1 mapped with the PoS ERC20 MATIC contract ( https://polygonscan.com/token/0x0000000000000000000000000000000000001010). And this contract outputs a symbol of “MATIC”, same as the old MATIC contract on L1 (https://etherscan.io/address/0x7d1afa7b718fb893db30a3abc0cfc608aacfebb0) and unlike the new POL contract on L1 (https://etherscan.io/address/0x455e53CBB86018Ac2B8092FdCd39d8444aFFC3F6#readContract).
Having the ERC20 contract on PoS that’s supposed to be a wrapped version of the native token have a different symbol than the corresponding native token contract on L1 is very confusing. Is there a plan to update the symbol of the ERC20 contract on PoS chain?
Because the PIP19 upgrade is going to be a contract upgrade only on Ethereum, the migration of the migration will not be reflected immediately. Changing the name also requires a hard fork, so this change will be done in one of the future upgrades.
